Observation details
*very high; almost twice the previous state high count. Best attempt at an exact tally of birds leaving roost. Birds were coming in mixed waves, so likely missed a few individuals of both species. All birds carefully identified visually by different body shape (most seemed to have noticeably pointier wings, which I hadn’t noticed before, but I’m not sure if that is a reliable id mark?), and the typical longer leg extension with a visible gap between the tip of the tail and the start of the feet. A few of them were calling their distinctive ‘skow’ call that is similar to a GRHE, but lower pitched and more croaking and very different from the ‘wok’ call the BCNHs were giving.
