Observation details
*rare. Flock flying over wetlands. Typical Cypseloides swifts, with bulbous heads, long and pointed wings and relatively long, squared tails. Flight style distinctive, with deep wing beats and little gliding. Way smaller than nearby White-collared Swifts, but larger and bulkier than Lesser Swallowtail Swift. At field, these birds looked all-dark. Photos show frosty white markings on forehead and above eye, plus small but evident white chin spot. Some birds with scaly lower underparts.
