Observation details

Incredible first NWT record! Locals say it's been here for nearly a month. Posted on Facebook and I chose to come see it during my long weekend. Not banded or otherwise marked bird. Bird frequently flies around town, perching up on poles in backyards, with bouts of soaring. Otherwise near dump in poplar trees or on refuse. Flight noted to be quick bursts of furious flapping interspersed with soaring. Active wing moult as typical in summer vultures.
