NOTES: LNS note: Long song. SAS 03/01/2002. Weather: WIND; THIS BIRD WAS ALSO STIMULATED TO SING BY PLAYBACK OF A SONG UNFAMILIAR TO HIM (ANNOUNCED ON TAPE). HIS REACTION WAS NOT VERY STRONG, BUT HE DID CALM DOWN AND GIVE AGGRESSIVE CALL NOTES AND A FEW LONG SONGS AS HE SEARCHED FOR THE INTRUDER. THIS BIRD'S TERRITORY IS ACROSS RT.327 FROM THE BIRD IN LNS 16936. BUNTINGS SEEM TO LOSE SOME AGGRESSIVENESS JUST AFTER THEIR 1ST BROOD IS FLEDGED, THEN REGAIN IT WHEN THEY COMMENCE ANOTHER, USUALLY BY MID-JULY. Sound stimulation was (other): PLAYBACK SAME SPECIES. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise.
