Observation details
Detected by song and subsequently seen in Guadalupe Creek riparian corridor. See listserv for details of precise location. Song: obvious vireo doing a question and answer type song, but more musical and robinlike (and persistent) than Cassin’s and perhaps slightly faster. While Cassins’s nest a few miles away they do not summer on this reach of the creek. Appearance: large vireo with no eye ring or spectacles or wing bars. Long bill with paler lower mandible. Dark translocular line. A thin black border separates gray cap from whitish supercilium. Vent washed with yellow. Will upload a photo, also have recordings of the song.
