Observation details
2nd cycle. Small, (reminiscent of Mew Gull size). Black legs. Black bill, pointed and slightly decurved, not short enough to be Franklin's. Dark gray wash on cheek and back of crown, maybe halfway thru molt to adult? But forehead white. Medium gray back like a CAGU but with less black at the primaries (still some black). Primaries appearing all black without obvious white tips. White breast and belly. I first spotted this bird on the Monterey side and took a bad photo with my phone. About 20 minutes later I saw it on the Santa Cruz side so I have also recorded it on my Santa Cruz checklist. Many CAGU crossed as well
