Observation details
Potential first county record found by Caleb Strand earlier the same day. Identification as Eastern Wood-Pewee based largely on the diagnostic vocalizations that Caleb heard about a dozen times before I arrived. It never called while I was present, but morphological features also supported the identification as EAWP, including: 1) Mostly pale lower mandible 2) Relatively long tail, with tail projection longer than primary projection 3) Tail consistently held low, below the plane of the wings 4) Wing bars relatively bold and white 5) Upper wing bar about equal to lower wing bar in boldness. A report of this bird as Eastern Wood-Pewee was submitted to the Arizona Bird Committee but was not accepted. I am removing this from EAWP to the "slash" option accordingly.
