First observation at 1025. 1 counted on property. At 1025, seen flying upstream past the turnaround, a bit N of the stream (ca 40 m), at less than 1x shrub height. All-black with kingfisher-like shape, larger than BEKI, with red crest and some white in the wing. Seen a few minutes earlier by Tom and Will Kreissler ca NE of the raised hill near a Chokecherry clump; flushed to a fencepost, then flew on upstream, following the creek. Nonvocal. Very notable and unexpected to see one here. Detections (number 15-minute intervals in which the species was detected): 1 on property.
