Media notes
Glossy ibis in flooded agricultural fields. Flew in around sunrise, at same time as flock of mostly ring-billed gulls. Possibly under-counted, as there were clearly 22 individuals later in the morning at another site very closeby.
Observation details
Flew in around sunrise, around 6:00 or 6:05, at same time as a large flock of (mostly) ring-bill gulls. Saw a flock of about 9 individuals, then 2 more arrive, and one arrive alone (there were more than I saw fly in, as we counted first 16, then 20 or 21 through a scope). Feeding and resting along water's edge in flooded agricultural fields by greenhouses. I also observed a smaller flock here about 6 days ago (9?), and later today saw 20 or 21 (almost certainly the same flock) in Lancaster just south of 117, east of the fairgrounds, in flooded grassy fields. I have photos I will submit once I download.
