Observation details
Northern Pygmy-owl was seen perched on the end of a branch in a large cypress tree near the cliff-side of the Murphy House on the south side of the grounds. I was alerted to the presence of the owl by two Anna's Hummingbirds who were scolding and hovering near the owl. After about 2-3 minutes the owl dove from its perch down the cliff side and out of site. I would likely not have noticed the owl had it not been for the repeated scolding of the hummingbirds.
