Observation details
The Red-bellied was perched next to a cavity belonging to the Downy Woodpeckers. The Downys were both attacking the Red-bellied, flying by and pecking at it, but the Red-bellied refused to move. The Cardinal, the Chickadee, and the Pine Warblers also landed very close to the Woodpeckers, but didn't directly attack the Red-bellied (a show of support, we guess). All species were loudly vocalizing.
