Observation details

Accidental bird for Alaska. Very rare. Seen together with perviously reported Purple Finch (also rare). Very similar to purple finch, either a female or young bird. Visible streaked undertail covers, pale eye ring. Streaking was finer than that of the nearby purple finch, and extended to the end of the flanks. See photographs taken: Cassin's finch on left side. Purple finch on right side of image. See streaked undertail coverts. Pale eye ring partially covered by branch. Fine streaking on the flanks. Similar to previous photo. Pale eye ring more vissible. "Long" bill with straight culmen.
