Media notes
This file was made thanks to the use of phone recorder RECFORGEII. This record was got when the bird was perched under the Canopy of a tall tree in the parking lot of the Bellavista lodge. The bird made the song or call after the playback.
Observation details
A male of this small woodpecker was seen again on Alder Tree (Alnus caminata) around 10:01 am in the parking lot . The bird was at the canopy not easy to see and take photos. I decided to use the playback to force to move to smoller trees around us. When a play the call, the woodpecker respond very quick and move to a tree of Mountain Ceder (Cedrela montana) from where we had much better view to see the woodpecker allowing us to takes photos and record the call. This small woodpecker is unmistakable in this area because first at all is very small, red head , grey cheeks with white supercilium and white malar, black throat, yellow barred chest and belly, black tail and the back was yellow green olive.
