Observation details
These were initially confused by most of us as possibly the Moustached Brushfinch (Atlapetes albofrenatus) and then as Common Chlorospingus (thought to be C. f. olsoni). Subsequently, we entered these as Ashy-throated Chlorospingus (C. canigularis) based on unmarked white throats and narrow yellow breast band that these birds clearly possessed, along with dark reddish irides. The face below and behind the eye appeared blackish and darker than the rest of the head, which returned us to C. flavopectus. These match the example of nominate C. f. flavopectus, figure 2A in Avendaño, Stiles, and Cadena, 2013 (see: http://asociacioncolombianadeornitologia.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/MS1209.pdf).
