Observation details
Associating with several Common Loon in cove to the south of the campground. Smaller than COLO with darker black back with very little white. Neck sharply contrasted with dark hood. Hood slightly paler on nape and crown and lacking collar mark as in COLO. No white around eyes. Head rounded and not blocky. Inconspicuous chinstrap present. Bill shorter and much narrower than COLO. Some fishermen put their boat in the cove and the group of loons slowly made its way into the main channel. Last seen off the SE end of the peninsula.
