Observation details
I wrestled quite a while with these photos and consulted with experienced birders before reaching this ID. I believe the long tail, short primaries, white wing bars and throat, dark chest band, incomplete eye ring, and suggestions of a crest all confirm that this was a Pileated. Obviously, I was never able to see this bird in good light. All photos were heavily manipulated in order to be usable.
