Observation details
Karen Platt called me and said she had just spooked a large owl from the Salmon River bank. It was carrying a large weasel. The owl dropped into the water half way across the river and swam to shore with the weasel. When I arrived, it took us a few minutes to locate the owl because it was so well hidden on the bank behind some grasses. One photo here that Karen took shows the owl swimming with the weasel. Two photos I took show the river bank with the owl in the center of the photo behind grass. The owl was sitting on the weasel. I could not tell if it was a Mink or a Marten. The owl was mottled brown with an orange face.
