Artist My name is Suleiman Mansour, I'm a Palestinian artist, director of arts center thinks big burden when go .. . Jerusalem...from childhood...heard different from other cities...and now we believe it. 410 for me, living here most of my life. it's a childhood thing you know? All my love affairs been here, I know every corner of the city and I painted most of the streets,, most of the houses. . . the wall all over around. Even the religious sites something beautiful. Even though not rel, if you go see history and like history and am interested in that. 502 food in Jerusalem is something else. ...something called kik...pita...they do it in Ramallah, they do it in Hebron, but in j. it has a different taste. the girls here are beautiful, the people more cultured and educated than other people. the thing that make me sad or angry, try to end this political problem...to forbid my people come to j. the fact forbidden us come here. . . mother. . . talking about friends, artists, Israelis recreated wall... 722 I've been living here since a long time before the Israelis...I've been living in J. since 1957. I was ??? time, and my father was born here, he's buried here, my grandfather was born here, we have a long ??? people moved around before but now it's become an issue. She cannot come to visit me, she cannot come visit her husband's grave, that's it¿ I'm 1007 I mean, we ??? go back to the sad story. If we want to talk about J. we try to talk in kind of happy thoughts, ebeati??? memories, but always we go back to the sad situation we are living in. beir hannenah day of...tried flee...sad scenes...men women children killed... 1222 we didn't think that J. become such a big issue in the long run ... we thought it was a Palestinian city, a west bank. 1300 now we realize that J. something else, not like any other city. came to conclusion after so many??? because it was such in our feelings, minds that j. was Arab, Palestinian and that's it. we never thought J. could be anything else but that. Now I think becoming aware of fact that J. much more bigger more important than one people to control it. It should be controlled by everybody. Because everyone in world except maybe China has feelings for J. . . and that I think people become aware of n??? Q: symbols? dome of rock, no realp. j. without. for me as Christian Palestinian, and I know that Palestinian artists have been painting a long time, I've never seen one who puts any Jewish symbol in their painting. usually they put Muslim but 1520 jewish, until now no put in works. Q: do you? not yet. not yet. I mean, the political situation prevents m doing, and human attitude... I don't have anything against those symbols, but current situation prevents me from doing now, it's a form of censorship. I hate. Q: You hate it? Yeah. Q: When you say symbols political, what mean? q when you say pol, what mean? What is do in J. I hate. I don't like it, what they are doing to our people we in this city. That's one other reason Palestinians wouldn't like to see painting by me with Jewish symbol. Not because anti-Semitic ??? because religious symbols became political symbols. They didn't stay Jewish religious symbols became political and if want to paint political symbols, I can't... (Notes truncated)
