Observation details
Our second in-yard (second for MT). Last was 30 Dec 2016, an all-day bird in same feeding area, which also missed one attempt to prey, landing in snow without success as song sparrow escaped. This year's bird immediately followed lame Yellow-rumped warbler to our alley fence, but missed catching it by less than a foot. As it searched around, it allowed me to approach to within 10 ft while I was talking on phone to my mother. Eventually, it flew towards house passing under our van, then landed on saw-horse at back end of van, allowing me to make photos from less than 6 ft. Then it flew into Bull Pine on alley where I got one good photo 7 minutes later, then it flew to yard across alley, landing in a pine on west side of Clay.
