Media notes
Possible Grallaria haplonota. At the time we thought this was Myrmothera campanisona, but is rather high in elevation and the song rises and then descends in pitch. G. haplonota would be a marked range extension. Calling from valley below trail, perhaps from 1500 m. Trail runs between the Quebrada Shaani and Chepani valleys, connecting Oventeni with the Ucayali River. The trail at this point was through semi-stunted, white-sand cloud forest, but the bird was calling from below this area. See also Michael Harvey's recordings from the same area. Habitat: Montane Grassland.
