Observation details
Found by Jim Moore. Foraging in a field of short grass with RGBU, BOGU and HERG. Once made a flight of about 30 feet, showing wing pattern. Adult in nearly full breeding plumage. Small, chunky gull with sloping forehead, bill smaller and straighter than LAGU. Mantle not as dark as LAGU. Head black with noticeable white eye-arcs. Underparts white with faint rosy wash on breast. In flight showed small area of black in wingtip; white trailing edge to wing which separated black wingtip from gray; white spots on primary tips. Bill and feet blackish with hint of red, difficult to see in dim light conditions. Distinguished from BOGU and BHGU by larger bill, darker mantle and wing pattern; from LAGU by smaller size, smaller bill, and wing pattern. Poor quality images from video for documentation. Compare with RBGU, BOGU and HERG.
