Observation details

There was a California Gull on the ice just past the entrance of the brook (harbour side) to Wentworth Park. Could be easily seen from little park area next to Martin Arms Hotel. Comments from Amar Ayyash: California, it seems. They get around. Unusual for NS, but it looks solid. I see a pretty straightforward California Gull. The body feathers are a bit fluffed which makes sense if it’s preening (see the two new photos). The outer primaries have a good amount of black with a large oval p10 mirror. The straight tubular bill with black-to-red pattern is distinctive, in my opinion. The darker upperparts are fine for nominate and/or may be heightened by ice/snow reflection.
