Observation details
Long-continuing bird. This afternoon, it was just east of the apartment complex and the UCLA boat ramp, on the north shore of the creek, with black bellied plovers. I suspect it was with the plover flock in the salt pan this morning, undetected. The plovers seem to move to the salt pan when the water level in the creek is too high. Photos. Much smaller than black bellied plovers, and with a lot of gold in the plumage. This bird seems to have finished molting its tertials, which now extend almost to the tip of the tail, making it easier to separate from American golden plover.
