Immature bird in good light
Observation details
Immature teal. Bird was slightly smaller than the Lesser Scaup it was hanging out with - no where as small as a Green-winged Teal. Facial pattern and yellowish legs illiminate Garganey. Very pale bird, though Cinnamon Teal can be pale due to sun bleaching in this plumage. Facial pattern is stronger than one would expect in a CITE. Extensive white throat unlike CITE in similar plumage as is the white lore. Fairly bold white around eye, CITE usually have a very thin white eye ring in this plumage. Bill does not appear to be spatulate or have any flesh/orangey color at the base as is often seen in CITE in this plumage.
