Lack of tarsal feathering behind the feet
Observation details
Seen admist swallow flocks, well forked tail, dark brown upper parts, full brown breast band. Photos taken. Almost certainly a bird that fits the regular Common Sand Martin seen in Hoskote Using features documented in Chandran (2017) Identification of Sand Martins Riparia riparia in southern India Malabar Trogon 15(3): 27-27 This record has 71% match to Sand Martin features 1-Dark brown upperparts. 2-Strongly contrasting cheek patch. 3- Dark and contrasting breast band. 4- Tarsal feathering not more than half of the tarsus. 5- Uniformly pale chin and upper throat. 6- Dark brown head but eye surround.seem more obvious in some angles 7- Tail fork not assessable in the pix 5 out of 7 features are favourable to R. r. riparia Also, see a previous record from the same site which has been assessed as a Sand Martin https://ebird.org/india/view/checklist/S35434142
