Observation details

*Rare; immature. When I first saw this white-winged gull flying in from the east tailing a group of swans I assumed it would be an Iceland. It was quickly evident that this bird had basically no pigment in the primaries, a chunky build, broad wings, a neatly bicolored bill, and small beady eyes. It circled higher with a few Herring Gulls as I watched until I lost it over the beach/ocean area.
