Observation details
Very rare for Kent county. My life county bird. 1st or 2nd cycle, still not positive. Bird considerably bulkier, perhaps by 20%, and longer by a smiliar percentage, than all HERG with it. Head and underparts very white, with a tiny amount of streaking on crown and auricular (less than LBBG 1st cycle here), very dark mantle mottled brown and slate gray, tail base white with thin black subterminal band (visible in flight shots below), pink legs, and massive bill with massive gonydeal angle. At all angles the bill was clearly more massive than all HERG near it, perhaps even twice as buliky. Bill was black except for small flesh-colored area at base. Primary projection beyond the tail at rest was about the length of the bill, far too short for LBBG. Inner primary panel was less obvious than that of 1st cycle HERG.
