Observation details
I'll be interested to see what the Colorado Bird Records Committee does with this bird. I noticed a Barnacle was found around the same time last January at Aurora Reservoir. Continuing bird seen resting among a large group of white-cheeked geese. Seen with its head out for a few moments as well. Similar in size and structure to a Cackling Goose, short-necked and with a stubby black triangular bill. White underparts and undertail coverts contrasting with the black breast, neck and much of the head. White on the cheek and face, extending upward to wrap around the forehead. Back Dark gray with white and silvery gray scalloping. I believe the legs were dark.
