NOTES: Recorded in MS stereo. Microphones were planted at the base of an active Colaptes fernandinae nest, which was in a palmetto. Starts with an arrival sequence where bird flies in and hitches at the nest cavity. Some vocalizations, including two loud series in the second segment (1:57, 2:32). Some of these calls may be overloaded. The loud "kleer" calls at 3:10 and 5:10 are best. At 5:05, a distant Melanerpes superciliaris starts a long series of chatters. Habitat: Savannah, Thicket/Brush, Scrub.
