Observation details
Seen roosting with large flock of Western Willets and Marbled Godwits by campground. Also seen in flight a few times, always making solitary forays out from flock, never with flock. Subspecies indicated by fully barred underwing, rump, and tail, looking plain brown at a distance. Sex determined by relatively large size (larger than most Willets and overlapping with many Marbled Godwits), and relatively long, straight bill. Presumably the same bird seen two years earlier.
