Observation details
**rare in winter /p/s In big field to the right (south of path). Only saw it as I stopped to let skiers pass and it flew by. Obvious thrasher (large thin passerine with slightly curved bill, reddish brown back, heavily streaked front). Bill was paler at the base, undertail appeared white (not that I actually thought there was any chance of a Long-bill). Birds of Massachusetts lists it as regular in winter east of Berkshire county, but I only see 2 Dec-Feb records in eBird for Middlesex county.
