Observation details
Thanks to Roger H. for finding this bird. Continuing, from yesterday. Small, white goose with black primary tips. Short neck, bill pink/orange with blue/purple base and no "grin patch," as in Snow Goose. Vertical interface at base of mandibles.Legs dark pink. We watched the bird swimming around the mill pond in the company of Canada Geese and Mallards. It rested on the ice for a short time, giving us a chance to view the legs. We heard no vocalization, but it was interesting to watch its body posture as an eagle flew nearby or when it attempted to join a certain group of Canada Geese. Photos.
