NOTES: The calling bird was initially unseen but 35-40 meters away and 30+ meters up in a huge tree, later 30 meters away and 25 meters up in the canopy of a relatively large tree at the edge of the far side of the small clearing just short of the sharp bend at the base of the hill; in response to playback, two birds came in together and they zipped back-and-forth aggressively with what was presumably the male flaring its coronal patch, calling more frequently, and giving a more complex song; the latter parts of the cut followed playback, with the birds initially 5-6 meters away when quite breezy, and later 12-15 meters away and about 12 meters up before they flew across the field; partly cloudy, intermittently quite breezy, 82-84¡ F. ML: Background subject changed from Dendrocincla fuliginosa to D. turdina tuanayi to reflect current taxonomy. --Jay McGowan 19Sep2013. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Establish Flock Contact, Mate, Advertise, Social Context: Mixed. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Creek, Riparian, Edge.
