NOTES: This was recorded following playback of the previous recording (cut #2001-17-08) in which this bird gave one song in the background; in response to this playback, the bird came screaming in and singing aggressively as sang from about 8 meters away and 4-5 meters up at the edge of the small clearing in scrubby forest along the stream (at the base of the hill a short distance before the sharp bend in the road); I saw this bird quite well as it moved about in the open, revealing the black markings in the tail, the white slash across the cheek, and the dingy underparts; for a short while, this bird and the Myrmotherula axillaris recorded in the previous cut were seen moving about together, but the antwren soon lost interest and moved off; mostly cloudy, calm, 77¡ F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Creek, Edge.
