NOTES: These cuts were all recorded after playback of cut #2001-14-07, which highlighted this same bird; in the earlier cut, the bird was initially 30 meters away and below me in the ravine, later about 20 meters away after I walked around the bend to the lower side; the initial response to playback was minimal, but the bird later crossed to my side of the ravine, and in this recording it was initially 15 meters away and walking along on or near the ground at the bottom of the ravine in good terra firme forest in the canyon below the road below the sharp bend about two-thirds of the way up the hill; after this, there are several more cuts recorded afer additional playback with the bird 10-15 meters away and generally hopping or shuffling on the ground but at times it perched on small branches, usually <1/2 meter up; in response to later playback, the bird gave the same song and crossed the road several times, sometimes approaching to check me out but at others ignoring playback altogether; it once gave a rattle call when it flew by me; I eventually saw the bird quite well as it hopped or shuffled on the ground amid dense undergrowth flipping leaves over; it occasionally ascended into the lower branches of the understory shrubs; although it moved along slowly, it was in almost constant motion; there may have been a second bird nearby but I could never be sure; clouding up, intermittent breeze, 76¡ F. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
