Media notes

NOTES: Initially natural song by an unseen bird that was about 25 meters away and at my level but on the far side of the canyon in the undergrowth of relatively good forest along the road near the stream at the bottom of the hill; a second song heard in the first part was probably 50 meters away but it was unclear whether this was a second bird or the initial bird after it shifted positions; the second part of the recording was made following playback, when the bird was about 20-30 meters away and 5-10 meters up in the lower mid-levels of the forest right at the bend in the road at the stream crossing; the response to playback was limited; although the bird did seem to fly back-and-forth at least twice, subsequent playback had minimal effect and the bird seemed to move quite a bit even before playback, with each song in the second part given from a different perch; I am not sure if the fast rattles are short trills of this species; although the second part of this recording was made about 150 meters from the first, I suspect that the same individual was involved in both; it was just starting to get light for the first part of this recording, but the sun came just after the second part concluded; partly cloudy, calm, 72-73¡ F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
