NOTES: Initially unseen 60 meters away and high up, later well seen 30 meters away and 20-25 meters up on an exposed branch, and finally unseen again but 40-50 meters away, in relatively good, terra firme forest with a 25 meter-tall somewhat broken canopy and a relatively open understory in this particular spot about 800 meters out a trail that extended along a property line on the north side of the road; the first part was recorded after a whistled imitation, I response to which the bird seemed to approach, but it did not change its song; later after playback of itself, in response to which the bird approached and changed its ÒsongÓ to an aggressive ÒbarkingÓ; this bird had an orange face, a white eye, and a black tail with one white band about half way out when seen from below; there were clearly two birds, both of which were seen and which flew back-and-forth overhead and perch 3/4 up trees in response to playback; I am not sure if the bird in the third part was the same as that in the second; almost completely clear (more clouds in the later parts), calm to trace breeze, 83-84¡ F. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
