NOTES: Habitat: Oak-Hickory woods on campus; Physical Description of Sound: a low volume gutteral sound as if the suirrel was not excited enough to bark; Apparent Biological Function of Sound: emitted during a chase, may be expression of agression or possibly meating call (?) ; What Behavior Accompanied Vocalization: two squirrels were chasing but I was not sure which one vocalized; What did animal do when not vocalizing: the squirrel ran about in the cage; Description of Exact Place From Which Sound was Made: microphone was hand-held in the woods; Background Sounds: library ventilation, some birds, but mostly library noise-sounds like a wind is blowing;.
