NOTES: Unseen bird was recorded after approach in response to my whistled imitation; bird was initially about 25-30 m away, later 20 m away, and 3-5 m up in the understory of good terra firme forest just beyond fork in back loop of Trilha das Rochas; response to my imitation was a weak approach and the bird singing at a slightly faster pace but the songs themselves were similar; following playback the bird went quiet but then began singing again possibly from a slightly closer spot, suggesting a continued approach and a slightly better response to playback than my whistling; quite a bit of dripping from trees; mostly clear but with a few high, thin clouds, calm, low 70s [= RCR050-052]. ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus eytoni to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [eytoni Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
