NOTES: Apparent pair seen relatively well following approach in response to tape playback; prior to my recording these birds, Luciano N. Naka had done playback, I assume of their own song, so they were already singing at a rapid rate; when recorded, these birds appeared to be about 25 m away and about eye-level for first part of recording, but as near as 6 m away and 3 m up for latter part of recording; when seen, birds were 2-3 m above the ground, sometimes lower, and they often darted about; lighter and more orange in coloration than S. rutilans (and possibly with a dark throat but I could never be sure); these birds were in undergrowth of relatively good forest with an understory having many palms and vines but seemingly not much bamboo; overcast; this recording combines two files (#CAR05-46 & 46a) [= CAR076-078]. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Mate, Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
