Observation details
Found this gull loafing in front of the dam mixed in with the RBGUs right before roost. Stood out as having a darker mantle and some odd brown smudging on the nape. Was different enough looking to pick out among the RBGU without much trouble. Managed these photos before the sun set and sent them to some folks like Brainard and Amar Ayyash, both who believe this is in the Mew Gull complex. Some of the field marks being looked at on this bird include the aforementioned darker mantle than RBGU and brown on the nape. Also a couple of the photos show the large dark eye, and a rounder head shape. The bill which is hard to see in these photos, looks quite petite and pretty much all yellow with maybe a small winter smudge. Also you can see the wider white edge on the tertials/secondaries.
