Media notes
On this recording both starling and cowbird calls can be heard, as well as the rush of their wings when they took off, which they did several times. I had to cut out the sound of vehicles behind me, as well as a jet plane. The rush of wings is audible at least three times. I think most of the birds were adults, and both sexes were present, at least of cowbirds.
Observation details
About 2/3 of the large flock at the farm was comprised of European Starlings (the other third mostly Brown-headed Cowbirds). They landed repeatedly in the meadow. The sounds of the murmuration were recorded.
