Observation details
Small sandpiper, slightly smaller than Sharpie, long necked appearance. Smooth buff face and breast, finely streaked crown, prominent dark eye with pale eye ring. Fairly straight bill, yellow legs. Multiple observers. It put on a great show, feeding out in the open, at times only metres from the fence. Tended to stick to the drier mud, apparently preferring not to get its legs too wet. When spooked it would often squat in a hole and stay still, rather than fly. The location is the muddy pond on the left hand side of Boyters Lane, about half way along the lane, in behind where the casuarinas line the roadside. Aprroximate GPS -30.915774, 153.032478
