Observation details
The only juvenile Calidris sandpiper present; associating with a flock of adult Least Sandpipers. Upperparts generally dark brown with pale fringes to the feathers creating a scaled appearance, and no rufous coloration whatsoever. Dark brown crown and face and broad white supercilium, white throat and underparts with a brown wash across the breast. Legs dark/blackish. Bill relatively heavy (compared to Least) and straight with no noticeable decurvature, though somewhat longer than most of the Semipalmated Sandpipers I have seen (indicating female?). Primary tips falling short of tail tip.
