Observation details
Adult or near adult. Flew along the bank at Riverview Drive at close range, circling low over Barton Cove with several Ring-billed Gulls close by for comparison. Small gull with compact shape, somewhat tern-like flight and 'inky' black wing tips pointing straight to an adult Black-legged Kittiwake! Pale gray above merging into lighter primaries and secondaries with black 'triangle' wing tips jumping out when compared to RBGull. In non-breeding plumage showing surprisingly strong dusky markings on the crown and nape.
