Media notes
NOTES: This cut was made only minutes after Dan Lebbin, Pete Hosner, and Michael Andersen discovered two Cnipodectes sp. nov. in a bamboo patch 4 hours north (by car) of Puerto Maldonado, 6km W of Iberia, Depto. Madre de Dios, Peru. Two individuals were observed, though only one bird was recorded. Both birds were foraging actively (sallying from bamboo perch) and also doing periodic wind-lift displays characteristic of the genus. Wing-lifts were observed with both left and right wings (and occassionally both simultaneously). See Auk (in press) for forthcoming species description by D. Lane et al. - MJA, 24 June 2005. Other Behaviors: Perform Visual Display. Habitat: Forest, Rainforest, Evergreen Forest.
