Observation details
Light eye, all white wingtips, flew off to the NW showing red legs and complete white trailing edge to wing. **Update: After consulting with the Yolo birding community (resulting in non-unanimous opinions), I have switched this ID from Iceland (Glaucoides) to Glaucous. I am adding two photos here that give a better show of size in comparison to the surrounding gulls. Admittedly something about this bird seems off for both Glaucous (head shape), and Iceland (body size/bulkiness). As head shape can be a bit more variable between birds and given postures, I agree that Glaucous is more likely. I certainly invite other more creative possibilities (e.g., back-cross Glaucous x Herring Gull hybrid - see: http://www.birdersplayground.co.uk/Hybrid%20Gulls%20-%20adults%20UK.html). Many thanks to Keith Bailey, Andy Engilis, Frank Fogarty, Steve Hampton, Eric LoPresti, John Sterling, and Kirk Swenson for their thoughts on this bird.
