Drawing by Isabel Ludlum, tail detail of American Redstart sighting.
Observation details
Notes from Isabel: Bird extremely active in Sycamore tree near beginning of Sycamore Trail. Time 7:20. Frequented south facing portion of tree staying mostly at a 9-11 oclock position in tree. Diagnostic markings were evident showing clear, white underpart and typical tail configuration but with pale salmon colored sides, not yellow or bright orange. Bird fanned tail often and pirouetted from limb to limb as described in Audubon Society Master Guide to Birding, Vol. 3 Page 160. Sighting reported to Hal Baxter, Los Angeles Audubon, for Bids of Season records 11/2/85. Sighting will be included in report to Guy McCaskie for American Birds records. Note from Charity: I will submit a photograph of a drawing Isabel made of the tail of this bird.
