Observation details
The Neotropic Cormorant was flying the whole time 2-4 feet away from the Double-crested Cormorant it was with. With them so close together the size difference was very apparent. NECO was smaller in every way: Small body size (length and girth), shorter wing length, smaller wing width, smaller head and neck length, short bill length, thin beak. Mostly black/dark brown bird except around the bill and eye. White V was not present/visible, but the orange/yellow gular pouch shape was more of a square & acute V shape at gape than the longer & obtuse shape of DCCO. No orange/yellow in loral area, instead dark gray & dark brown. Tail longer, about equal with head/neck than the shorter tail vs longer head/neck of the DCCO. Flyby over water next to the breakwall. ~250 ft at the closest. Birds flying north. Passed directly east of the viewing location about 10 ft above eye level. Visibility good 40 minutes before sunset.
