NOTES: "Bird was vocalizing from numerous locations, mostly in sagebrush but also in juniper trees... The area was widely scattered junipers intermixed with sagebrush." [Although I cannot be absolutely certain, I believe these songs were given by Baeolophus inornatus NOT B. ridgwayi (Carla Cicero likewise indicated that it was probably B. inornatus, but possibly B. ridgwayi). This recording may contain as many as 11 different song-types, though some are similar to one another and not all may truly represent songs. There are also examples of both the "tsicka dee dee" call and the soft, lisping "sip" notes of BNA. This recording begins with a series of "tsicka dee dee" calls (0:04-0:26 - the last two the BEST). The second part of the recording contains songs of two different types, the first at 0:44-0:52 and 0:54-1:23, and the second at 0:52-0:54. There is also a single "sip" note at 1:16. The third part has a different song-type (1:35-1:44) and a single "sip" note at 1:52. The fourth part begins with a third song-type (1:59-2:02) before switching back to the type highlighted in the third part, then to a new type at 2:22-3:02; there is also a "sip" note at 2:14. The fifth and sixth parts (3:04-3:53) contain songs much like that at the beginning of the fourth part, but not quite the same (apparently a fifth song-type); there are also "sip" notes at 3:54-4:03 and what may be a series of "twittering" (sit-sit-sit) notes at 3:58-3:59. The seventh part begins with songs like those in the prevous two parts (4:06-4:33), followed by a "tsicka dee dee" call at 4:35, then one example of a new song-type at 4:37, two examples of yet a different song-type at 4:39-4:43, and then a return to the type sung earlier in this part (4:46-5:30, though modified slightly at 5:31-7:42), before switching to an entirely new song-type at 7:42; there is a single example at 7:44 of a song-type previously seen at 4:39-4:43, and two examples of what may be yet another song-type at 7:465-7:475 and 7:53-7:54, and another "sip" call at 5:04. The last part of the recording contains two song-types, the decapitated first example and the distant last example like songs that began the second part of this recording, but the three good songs in the middle are like those at the end of the seventh part. Quality changed from 1-2 to 2, 1-2 (BEST parts are at 0:44-1:23, 3:04-3:09, 4:05-4:14, and 7:55-8:03, but most of this is quite busy) - CAM - 29 March 2005] ML: Subject changed from Baeolophus to Baeolophus inornatus/ridgwayi. -Matt Medler, 28 June 2015.
